A history of dyslexia in my family has given me insight into the unique and varied
characteristics attributed to a dyslexic profile, along with frustrations, challenges and barriers often experienced in aspects of learning and cognition.
Assurance that you are choosing an assessor who has the pre-requisite qualifications to
assess for Dyslexia and who has a comprehensive knowledge of the education system is vital when you are seeking assessment for your child.
I hold an Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC), the highest level of qualification. My reports qualify for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) for use in school and higher education. In
addition to these qualifications, I am an experienced class teacher and specialist teacher for dyslexia.
My career as an educator and specialist assessor
I qualified as a primary school teacher with BA Hons (QTS) in 1998 from Surrey University and have over 25 years of class teaching experience, equipping me with a unique skillset,
extensive knowledge of child development and the ability to identify and support children with neurological differences such as dyslexia. I am experienced in liaising with professionals in various specialised fields to deliver and review individual programs of support for children I teach.
Specialist Dyslexia Teacher Training
Alongside my role as a class teacher, in 2018 I trained as a specialist teacher, qualifying with Accredited Teacher Status (ATS) in the highly renowned Dyslexia Action Literacy Program (DALP).
A dyslexia friendly teaching approach is multi-sensory and cumulative, encompassing all learning styles, promoting metacognitive awareness to support effective learning.
Specialist Diagnostic Assessor for Dyslexia
I hold a Level 7 Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) accredited through The Dyslexia Guild. This qualification allows my diagnostic reports to be used in applications for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) and Education, Health and Care plans (EHCP).
Exam Access Arrangements
I am a Registered Qualified Test User (RQTU) in use of psychometric testing for Dyslexia and Exam Access Arrangements, accredited through The British Psychological Society.
