Assessment
Pursuing assessment is the first step to supporting your child in their journey to overcome barriers and develop a positive mindset towards areas of learning they find challenging.
I have worked with a range of profiles in over 25 years experience as a class teacher, contributing to my strengths as an assessor.

The Assessment Report
Assessment is a valuable tool with the contents of the report consisting of an amalgamation of background information, observations during assessment, test results, and interpretation of findings.

The recommendations section of the report will address your child's preferred learning style with suggestions of ways to approach and support learning.  A selection of learning techniques and resources will be suggested to support development of positive strategies and ensure your child is successful in their learning at school and at home.

It may be necessary for me to suggest onward referral if there is a particular area within a profile that arises from assessment that would benefit from further investigation by a specialist in another field.

The Assessment Process

1. How do I book an assessment?

Please make contact via email in the first instance to ascertain what type of assessment is required.

2. Questionnaires
Parental and school questionnaires are required to be completed and returned before I carry out formal assessment.  Gathering background information is an informative part of the assessment process, enabling me to understand the history of your child’s personal, health and educational development.  *(At this stage a £280 deposit is required).

3. Arranging a date and location for assessment
We will arrange an assessment venue, date and time. Assessment will take approximately 3 hours.
Assessment  can take place at my  premises, school or your home (if you have a quiet room without any distractions). Depending on the age and  requirements of your child, I may recommend a split assessment of two shorter sessions over two dates.

4. Day of assessment
What will your child need to bring along? A small snack, bottle of water, and items already used as a normal way of working: e.g. glasses, coloured overlay.

5. Report

Within 3 weeks from completion of assessment, I will complete a full report of findings and recommendations.  *(The remaining balance of £300 will be required before I email you the report).

6. Discussion of findings

I will contact you to arrange a free of charge 45-minute telephone feedback.

Alternatively, there will be an additional £80 charge if you require a 45-minute face to face meeting, with payment requested at time of booking.

7. Further appointments

If you require any further telephone appointments, please contact me via email to arrange. There will be a small charge payable before the meeting. I will not be able to have discussions on the telephone without an arranged appointment.

Please refer to my terms and conditions for further information.

*Pricing varies according to the type of assessment required.  The above pricing breakdown is for a full diagnostic report.
